My 91 would not start a couple of days ago, the first thing I did was charge
the battery. That fixed it this time! A couple of years ago, we were auto
crossing, it would not start. We pushed it all over a parking lot and no
start. After we rested and caught our breath, it started right up. I did
not turn it off again until I got home, 150 miles later. Next morning, same
crap, no start, tried charger, no start. Disconnected charger, cussed loud
and long, rested, it started. I drove it to the selling dealer, told them
not to cut it off, they said no problem they could get it started. Not!!
Disassembled the steering column, in the service lane and found the problem.
The Vats system checked OK, but the white stranded wire going to the switch,
only had one strand connecting the wire to the switch. Sometimes it could
handle starting the car, other times not. Repaired the wire, turned the key
and vrrrrrrrooooommmmmm! Love the sound of an LT-5 that has just awakened!!
